Covid-19 Info & Updates

June 12, 2020 Update:
While we are very excited to be able to get back to sharing 5&2s as soon as possible, we are also closely monitoring the outbreak of Covid-19. The CDC and State of PA have said that Summer Camps can take place but the guidelines they are recommending are VERY limiting. It would be difficult to offer a program for kids that follows the guidelines strictly and provides a fun experience. At this point we do not feel comfortable organizing a socially distant summer camp, that is just very difficult for kids to adhere to and still have fun!

We hope some of the kids can engage in the following activities:
* Individual and small group basketball instruction at the player's home
* Small group Instruction on Zoom
* Large group instruction on Zoom
* Free activities via Google Classroom
* Reading program for kids in grades 3-8

While the region transitions to "yellow" and camps were permitted to open for the Summer, Mission 5&2 will be taking the following steps:

At this time, we do not plan to offer in-person camps in the beginning of the Summer. We would like to be cautious and observe how things unfold during the month of June while life opens back up to some degree. We consider the safety of the campers and our staff to be of utmost importance and would never jeopardize that. We want to be 100% confident we can provide a meaningful experience in a safe way.

Starting mid-June, we will offer several online opportunities:
* Buffet of basketball training videos along with other videos from our coaches just for fun (crafts, read-aloud books, etc). This will be free of charge.
* Individual basketball instruction on Zoom (fee based)
* Group basketball instruction on Zoom (fee based)
* Weekly challenges and competitions (i.e., Madden challenge, Trivia league, Bingo, etc).

We will continue to monitor potential rental opportunities and insurance issues with the hope of having a Phase 2 plan for the Summer by July 4th.

We know that we cannot operate our 2020 Summer Camps in the way we have in the past. Therefore, any existing registrations will be cancelled and fully refunded over the next 2 weeks. Refunds could be coded on your statement as Blue Sombrero or SportsConnect.

When our area goes to "Yellow", we will attempt to rent space at indoor and outdoor facilities to offer small group programs. We envision offering 3-hour programs at several different times ofthe day to be able to provide more kids and families at least a small break from the quarantine. So far, our only rental partner that has officially closed their campus for the summer is Agnes Irwin.

In the meantime, we hope to offer some free, just for fun activities and some paid services. We want to hear from YOU! Your input will be very helpful for us to plan some activities that could be helpful for families. Please complete this survey to help us plan for the Summer of 2020. The survey will be open until May 15.
